Opportunity to join family corporate enterprise ‘Lake Preston Beef’ a vertically integrated cattle company with breeding properties, back grounding & feedlot operations and a boxed beef marketing arm.

LPB are seeking a skilled and committed team member to join our wagyu & angus breeding farms in the Esperance region near Munglinup. The farms are managed as one operation, with integrated laneway systems and approx. 6000 breeding units.

The farms host a number of back grounding facilities for our retained heifer programs, with all male offspring being transferred to the external feedlots for entry into a long-fed program. We value an efficient low cost production model, with investment into good animal welfare outcomes through technology, infrastructure and pasture improvements.

Location

The farms are approx. 45min from the picturesque south coast town of Esperance, on the South Coast Highway.

The Position is suitable to a person who has the skills, knowledge and willingness to work in all areas of our farming business.

Key Activities

  • all areas of animal husbandry including daily checks, feeding, marking, vaccinating, drafting, joining, and mustering cattle.
  • General farm maintenance and upkeep, water checks, tractor work and paddock rotations.
  • maintaining farm infrastructure including fencing, yard improvement, water systems and land care.
  • monitoring and control of weeds (including spraying).

The Right Person

  • hold a current Australian drivers license
  • have good time management skills that demonstrate an efficiency.
  • be reliable, honest, motivated, positive, trustworthy and a team player.
  • must be able to self start and work independently.
  • take pride in their work, and enjoy working in agriculture.
  • Having Chem-Cert, LPA, NLIS, and/or First Aid training is an advantage but not essential (on the job training can be provided)
  • Have an ability to work with large mobs of cattle, in a low stress environment.

Remuneration

remuneration will be based on experience and skills

Salary package - which includes on farm accommodation, amenities (power/water) and work vehicle.
