Full Time Gardener - Grounds Maintenance | Young Nsw | Accommodation Available - 2nd Whv Eligible

We are looking for an experienced Landscape Gardener / Garden Maintenance Person to join our team full time, maintaining the gardens and landscaped areas across our thoroughbred horse stud and surrounding farm properties near Young, NSW.

This is a 5 day per week, full time position and would suit an experienced gardener or landscaper looking for several months of consistent work in a beautiful rural setting.

Gardening or landscaping experience is essential. We are specifically looking for someone who has previously been employed in landscaping, horticulture or garden maintenance and is confident working independently.

The role involves maintaining several established garden areas across our farms, including residence gardens, horse stables and yards, farm buildings, sheds and surrounding landscaped areas.

Duties will include:
• Operating heavy duty zero turn mowers and push mower
• Whipper snipping and maintaining neat lawn edges
• Hedging and shaping shrubs
• Pruning, including roses
• Weeding and general garden maintenance
• Weed spraying and safe use of garden chemicals
• Planting and establishing new garden areas
• Mulching and maintaining garden beds
• Installing and maintaining garden bed edging
• Chainsaw and powered saw work where required, cutting back branches
• Leaf and debris removal and general garden clean ups
• Maintaining paths, entrances and landscaped areas
• Watering and monitoring established and newly planted gardens
• Basic maintenance and troubleshooting of garden irrigation systems
• Repairing and maintaining hoses, taps, fittings and dripper lines
• Identifying plants requiring pruning, feeding, watering or other attention
• Fertilising and general plant care
• Plant pest and disease identification and control, including applying appropriate insecticides, fungicides and other garden treatments
• Maintaining gardening equipment and keeping work areas organised

We are looking for someone who is practical, physically very fit, reliable and takes genuine pride in keeping gardens exceptionally neat and well maintained. You need to be capable of planning your own work, noticing what needs attention and moving between different garden areas/locations without requiring constant supervision or direction.

You must be confident operating garden machinery, particularly a commercial/heavy duty zero turn mower, as this will form an important part of the position.

Requirements
• Previous paid employment in landscaping, horticulture or garden maintenance
• Strong practical gardening skills and knowledge
• Experience operating zero turn mowers and other powered garden equipment
• Good pruning, hedging and general plant maintenance skills
• Comfortable working outdoors and independently
• Reliable and able to manage your own daily workload
• Your own reliable vehicle is essential, as you will travel between several farm locations. All locations are within approximately 20 minutes of each other
• Available for a minimum commitment of 4 to 6 months
• Able to commit to the position continuously during this period, with no extended holidays or planned periods away
